with 50,000 inhabitants. Close to Dukla
Notably Krosno is the site of the first oil well (or "mine") in the world.
Krosno is a medieval fortified town, a former Royal Free Town, a centre of cloth, linen, canvas, baize and Hungarian wine trade. Until
recently it was a provincial capital. Today
it is a medium-sized town with a population
thousand, ranking sixth among Polish
towns with the best living conditions. This evident
success appears understandable when one looks
at the history of the town.
